Living in Midtown: 5 Things to Love

December 2nd, 2021 / Toronto

No doubt about it: Toronto is an amazing place to live. While there’s no shortage of incredible local neighbourhoods, some of my favourites are concentrated in midtown. From prestigious Rosedale to exclusive Forest Hill to lively Yorkville, this charming pocket of the city has something for everyone!

Here are just five reasons you should consider calling midtown home…

1) The Scenery

We all deserve surroundings that inspire us. Fortunately, it doesn’t get more picturesque than midtown. I adore the stunning houses, mature trees, and winding roads—and I think you will too!

If all of that weren’t enough, the area is full of places to immerse yourself in the great outdoors. From pristine Crothers Woods to the majestic Kay Gardner Beltline Trail, you’ll fall in love with the scenery.

2) Top-Notch Schools

Every parent wants their kids to get the best possible education. The good news is, if you live in midtown, you’ll be close to some of the best learning environments in Toronto.

While midtown’s public schools are impressive, its private institutions are truly a cut above. Branksome Hall and Bishop Strachan (top-notch girls schools) and Upper Canada College (which offers an exceptional curriculum for boys) have some of the best reputations in the country.

3) The Shopping

Do you occasionally engage in retail therapy? If so, there’s no better place to indulge than in midtown. Calling the area home means having world-class shopping in your own backyard!

When in Yorkville, check out the famed “Mink Mile,” which features designer retailers like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Hugo Boss. If malls are your thing, visit luxurious Yorkville Village or ultra-convenient Yonge-Eglinton Centre.

4) World-Class Restaurants

If you’re looking for an incredible meal, you’re in luck. One of the best things about living in midtown is the food. There’s no shortage of eateries in the area—and no shortage of flavourful dishes.

Local favourites include Arthur’s Restaurant (for contemporary American cuisine) and Tabule (which provides a fresh take on Middle Eastern fare). Stock Bar, one of the area’s more recent hotspots, is brought to you by the people behind the very successful Terroni and Cumbrae’s.

5) Stunning Homes

It’s no secret that this area is full of beautiful homes. From Rosedale to Moore Park, Summerhill to Yorkville, there’s so much residential architecture worth getting excited about in midtown.

If you love Victorian, Edwardian, Georgian, and Tudor houses as much as I do, this part of the city is heaven. It’s well known for multi-million-dollar mansions and high-end condos—but there’s a lot more variety in the area than you might think.
